Competition Time.
We’ve been sent a delicious poster for the Francois And The Atlas Mountains album “E Volo Love”, and seeing as we’re so radical we’ve decided to spread the love.
Go to our Facebook page here and post your suggestion for the “best named cover band” and it could be yours! (extra points for incorporating a French theme)
We will also accept email entries sent to shop@thedriftrecordshop.co.uk
Team Drift will decide our favorite next Friday and ship the poster out to the winner.

The Great Palace Reissue
We are delighted that Domino is to reissue five Palace albums on the 27th of February.
The five albums reissued are: There is No-one What Will Take Care Of You (Palace Brothers, 1993), Days In The Wake (Palace Brothers, 1994), the mini album, Hope (Palace Songs, 1994), the Steve Albini-recorded Viva Last Blues (Palace Music, 1995) and the compilation, Lost Blues And Other Songs (Palace Music, 1997).

‘You’re No Good’ is the first single from About Group’s forthcoming second album.
‘You’re No Good’ is a re-versioning of Terry Riley’s landmark 1967 track, on which the minimalist composer took Harvey Averne’s latin-tinged soul track, ‘You’re No Good’, and turned it into a free flowing piece of tape loop improvisation. Running two copies of the track alongside one another, Riley weaved between the tapes, dropping out and slowing down the song to create what may well have been the world’s first ever remix.
About Group are:
-Charles Hayward (This Heat, Camberwell Now, Monkey Puzzle Trio, Clear Frame)
-John Coxon (Spring Heel Jack, Spiritualized)
-Pat Thomas (has played with Derek Bailey, Tony Oxley, Jimmy Carl Black and Eugene Chadbourne and countless others)
-Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip)

OUT TOMORROW (Monday 17th January)![]()
The Drift Record Shop’s January Record of The Month.
Brian Eno has championed her as the most visionary female artiste since Patti Smith, Nick Cave has just taken her out around Europe as special guest of Grinderman, and Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey’s right hand studio man) has produced the music.
An inspired guitarist influenced by Django Reinhardt as much as Jimi Hendrix, and with vocals inspired by Nina Simone and Mariah Callas, Anna Calvi’s music is a passionate and incredibly original mix.

ARRIVING THIS MONDAY 10th JANUARY
Originally released on One Big Silence (Mike from Fucked Up’s label), “The Beat & The Pulse” heralds the arrival of an exciting new voice to the Domino label.
Influenced by Nine Inch Nails, The Knife and Debussy, this single and forthcoming album form a distillation of the previous work Katie Stelmanis has done under her own name, working with Fucked Up on “The Chemistry Of Life”, and split singles.
Dramatic and pulsating, this feels equally comfortable at the club at 4am or in your bedroom at 9pm.
