Lana Del Rey Leonard Cohen Proper Ornaments

Lots of you have been asking about these releases so we figured post a couple of pictures to let you know they’d arrived.

Leonard Cohen is on CD & LP (which is kind of limited) and we’ve already been playing it instore. Gravely!

Lana Del Rey is also on CD & LP (European import vinyl) and also has a deluxe edition CD with a few extra tracks.

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the Proper Ornaments EP on No Pain In Pop and we can confirm it is jangle pop of the highest order.

Radiohead - Staircase (live From the Basement)

Here’s a new track called Staircase, taken from our upcoming ‘From The Basement’ session.

And no, you’re not seeing double. The doppelganger drummers are myself and Clive Deamer. Clive has long been one of my favourite drummers and so I was really excited when he agreed to perform with us. Hope you like what we’ve all done.

Wiley - ‘Boom Blast’

It’s New Year and it’s time to lose that gut, people. Even if you can’t afford the equipment.

Wiley returns with the video for underground smash “Boom Blast”. Directed by US Design, the Best Newcomer winners at the recent Music Video Awards, this goes out to all the sweating, over-weight, tortured gym bunnies in the place. Stretch!

Yeti Magazine Yeti Magazine Yeti Magazine

{ Insert Yeti related joke here }

We’ve been waiting for the new issue of Yeti to arrive and as expected it looks beautiful.

ON THE HARD-VINYL 7” EP, Four archival, never before heard songs: MISSISSIPPI FRED McDOWELL (two amazing 1959 Lomax recordings). THE TIKI MEN’s stellar take on Duane Eddy’s “First Love, First Tears,” recorded around 1994. Plus a new cover by Portland’s own dreampop slayer GROUPER of Dead Moon’s “Demona,” recorded just the other week!

INSIDE THE 8” BY 8” BOOK: Lovely cover image of a big red giant walking over a little town on fire, by Portland’s favorite illustrator CARSON ELLIS. A portfolio of rare and never-before-seen photographs from the ALAN LOMAX ARCHIVES ca. his fabled 1959 ‘Southern Journey.’ Translator and poet Margarita Shalina delivers a personal, well-researched look at NEW YORK’S 1980s HARDCORE punk scene (she was there, man). Beyond-rare artifacts from gentle genius Kim Spurlock’s deep trove of NEAL CASSADY ephemera. Musician/ music historian NED SUBLETTE’s chat with esteemed music critic/ editor Daphne Carr is a roller-coaster ride into the eye of the post-Katrina diaspora, touching on many musical histories with concise and not wanky politico-historical context. JAMAICAN GOSPEL 7” label scans, which is a lot more interesting than it sounds.

Islet - Illuminated People

‘Illuminated People’ follows 2010’s rapturously received pair of EPs – ‘Celebrate This Place’ and ‘Wimmy’ – which the NME described as being “a sonic boom in the face to anyone who might have thought they had something to hide”. A group who work under a strict autonomy, this is, as a result, their most cohesive sounding work to date.
